Wednesday Cover Story: Shopping inspiration from The Firebird
Early copies of The Firebird, by Susanna Kearsley (out Jan 2013) came in this week and we have all been fawning over the cover – my favourite now amongst all of Kearsley’s books. (And a nice chunky hardback it is too.)
And I must confess there’s probably another reason I’ve been gazing at the cover – because I quite fancy the woman’s lovely raspberry-red dress. I am starting to see a pattern emerging (I already took a shining to Maisie Dobbs’ hat on the cover of A Lesson in Secrets – see previous blog) but can you blame me for coveting an eye-catching sleeveless dress? It is the festive party season after all. (My fortune cookie from today’s lunch at Dim T announced “Good clothes open many doors. Go shopping”. So I’m taking it as a sign.) And, if I find the dress, I might just accessorize it with diamond pendant earrings and a mottled red-orange feather boa and really rock The Firebird look.
Any other book covers you’ve come across that have inspired an outfit?

Sigh. How does one get an advance copy? Or is that impossible for mere mortals?
If you are a reviewer you can get advance review copies by emailing chiara@allisonandbusby.com. Otherwise, copies will be available to buy direct from us in January!
