Booking a place in history

Guinness_World_Records_logo.svgIn the midst of immense sporting achievements happening around the world (the Euros, Wimbledon and the Olympics soon), I thought we should take a journey through the accomplishments of book-lovers across the globe, with a little help from the Guinness World Records…

david hingley Whilst I sympathise with our author David Hingley who last week signed 500 copies of his debut novel Birthright – the wrist pain is unimaginable – the world record for the largest book signing somewhat dwarves that number. The official world record is for 6,786 books signed in a single sitting, which took a staggering 6 hours and 33 minutes to complete!

Similarly, readings are very popular at book events, but the world record for the longest marathon reading aloud is almost incomprehensible. Deepak Sharma Bajagain managed 113 hours at 15 minutes. I can’t even…

maxresdefaultPerhaps my favourite book-themed world record is for ‘Most books toppled in domino fashion’. The UK sales team from United Biscuits successfully toppled 5,318 titles at their annual sales conference last year. Out of all the records discussed, I think there’s a reasonable chance for success here.

Will pitch to the rest of Team A&B.
