Those of you that have followed our blog over the past months will remember us telling you about the flurry of calls we got from people wanting to order a copy of Muddy Boots and Silk Stockings – about the Land Girls. No doubt many of them will also be watching the new period drama Land Girls which aired last night on BBC1 – part of a season of programmes commemorating the 70th Anniversary of World War Two. It’s on every day this week at 5.15pm and if anyone missed the first episode you can still watch it online here.

The first episode has had lukewarm reviews – some criticising it for being too clichéd.  Since many of the women who rang us about Muddy Boots were former Land Girls themselves, I wish I could call them back and hear their thoughts on the new drama.
