Americans go crazy for the iPad
While I was on holiday at the beginning of April, I happened to be in New York over the Easter weekend. It was lovely! The weather was balmy to my winter-numbed skin, the blossom in Central Park was beautiful (see pic) and there was a buzz in the air. That buzz though may have had little to do with the season and more to do with the enormous queue forming at Apple’s flagship store over the road on Fifth Avenue… Yes, the birds were out singing and the terrapins were lounging in the sun, but the true wildlife were those rabid for the iPad.
In the, somewhat depleted, digital zone of the recent London Book Fair there were dozens of techie aficionados holding forth about the fact that the iPad was ‘the game changer’ and other too-cool-for-school expressions. And certainly the demand in the US is so strong that we Brits are having to wait a whole extra month to get our hands on one. Read more about the iPad delay here…
