Flo Wadlow was born in 1912 in West Ham, London. Her career in domestic service stretched for seventy years until her retirement in Norfolk. She loved to share her memories of life in service and contributed to radio and television programmes on the subject before writing Over a Hot Stove. She
died in January 2013.
