There’s something of an occupational hazard to working in the publishing industry – it becomes harder to treat a work of fiction as a complete, inviolable entity. When you see in-progress manuscripts dotted about the office you tend to approach your latest read with a critical eye (‘that chapter could have been dropped’, ‘this character needs developing’ , and so on).
One website that approaches books with a refreshing humour is Better Book Titles. I particularly like the suggested alternative title to Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are…
