Celebrity spotting
What is it about celebrity that is just so fascinating? I’m not an avid Twitter follower, celebrity magazine reader or watcher of reality television, but every so often a celebrity comes along and I will hang off their every word and watch or listen to their entire back catalogue over and over.
Sometimes our famous favourites surprise us, sometimes they are inherited through friends and family (one of my best friends’ houses only allow you to refer to Bruce Springsteen as The Boss, or you might just get up and leave thank you very much) and sometimes they become such caricatures that we love to hear what insanity will spout forth from their mouth next (Kanye West is the shining example of this for my generation).
Celebrity biographies have packed out the shops this winter, and I’m looking forward to the A&B release of Love & Death: The Murder of Kurt Cobain, near the anniversary of his death in March this year.
In the meantime, I’ll fulfill my celebrity needs not with shiny magazines but with this wonderful, simple website awesomepeoplehangingouttogether. It explains itself really; it’s awesome people, hanging out (often showing surprising friendships) and having a great time doing so.
