Henry VIII lives on…
I’ve recently watched The Other Boleyn Girl which I absolutely loved. I suspect my enthusiasm may have stemmed from the rather delicious Eric Bana playing the part of Henry VIII. How someone this good looking could possibly have been cast as the king who in actual fact was rather less pleasing to the eye, is something Hollywood pointedly ignored. Personally, I’m quite happy with the fact.
The reign of Henry VIII is one of the most famous periods in British history (read our very own Young Bess for a glimpse into his reign of terror) and I am now tempted to make my way to Windsor Castle where they are celebrating the 500 year anniversary of his accession with a special exhibition. If anyone else is interested in this, we better hurry as the last day of the exhibition is this 18th of April.
