My Favourite Things (in Cambridge)…
This coming weekend I’ll be popping over to see some friends in Cambridge – one of my favourite places in the UK or indeed the world. My favourite places there include the wide open space of Parker’s Piece, the cafés and restaurants at Magdalene bridge, the impossible-to-scale-whilst-riding-a-bike-bridge behind Trinity Hall and, predictably if you know me, Galloway & Porter on Sidney Street.
This was where I picked up plenty of set texts and plays for bargain prices as a student and where a browse still pays off these days. The last time I was in I picked up a special edition of The Ladies of Grace Adieu by Susanna Clarke for a mere £5.
What with the prospect of G&P, and an overdue visit to my library (no fines just yet though!), who knows what little gem I’ll be reading this time next week, that’s the way I like things at least.
