Twitter Favourites: Very British Problems
It’s the first Monday morning in June, and lo and behold the sun is finally out! And what’s more, we all have the opportunity to be extremely British by talking too much about the weather. Will it last? Is summer finally here? Or is the sunshine merely plotting to lull us into a false sense of security before autumn attacks early? All the speculation reminds me of another of my Twitter favourites: Very British Problems, whose motto is ‘Making life awkward for ourselves, one rainy day at a time’. Unfortunately, most of their tweets making fun of us Britons are all too true…
“Assuring your hairdresser the water temperature is fine, despite a strong suspicion your scalp is beginning to melt” — Very British Problems May 27, 2013
“Not wanting to use an emoticon yet worrying you’ll come across as sarcastic without one” — Very British Problems May 23, 2013
“Glowering at the Quiet Coach sign in the hope it will cause a chatterbox to be ejected through the roof of the train” — Very British Problems May 15, 2013
“Looking into having your hands surgically removed after waving at someone who was waving at someone behind you” — Very British Problems April 29, 2013
“Noticing a small patch of blue sky and immediately purchasing 24 cases of Pimm’s” — Very British Problems March 31, 2013
I think that last one might catch some people out today! But I don’t think we’d be the same without it…
